Runscope is joining BlazeMeter

By Heitor Tashiro Sergent on .

For the past couple years, Runscope has gone through a lot of changes. We were acquired by CA Technologies back in September 2017, and CA Technologies was acquired by Broadcom in November 2018. Our team has grown, and we have worked hard on improving the product and adding features such as Secrets Management, Role-based Access Control, and more. We have also done a lot of work behind the scenes to improve our infrastructure, and have grown from running 300 million API calls a month to running 1.2 billion API calls a month.

Coming soon, there are going to be even bigger changes happening to Runscope. We are going to be joining BlazeMeter, a market-leading product for Load Testing and Performance Testing.

BlazeMeter is a company that was also acquired by CA Technologies, back in 2016, and is now a part of Broadcom. They have an amazing team and product, and we're really excited to be joining our API Monitoring capabilities and expertise with their Performance and Load Testing knowledge […]

New Runscope API Monitoring Locations with Google's Cloud Platform

New Runscope API Monitoring Locations with Google's Cloud Platform

By Heitor Tashiro Sergent on .

One of the biggest advantages of API monitoring is the ability to test and monitor your API from locations around the globe. This can help teams get an accurate measurement of the performance API users are seeing when working with their APIs, and help monitor and improve the user API experience.

That's why we offer multiple locations for our users to run their API tests from, and why we are excited to announce that we're expanding from 16 to 19 locations! The three new locations we've just added are:

  • US Iowa

  • US South Carolina

  • Finland

Another big part of this announcement is that […]

New Feature Roundup

New Feature Roundup

By Heitor Tashiro Sergent on .

In this post we wanted to do a quick recap of some of the features we have launched in recent months that you might have missed.

A lot of our work has been behind the scenes, making sure our infrastructure is able to support the growing number of API calls being made through Runscope. We're at a point now where our systems are running over 880,000,000 API calls a month! That's 880 million, or an average of over 29 million API calls a day!

Besides the infrastructure work, we have also released 5 user-facing features in the past few months that we would like to highlight here […]

Phasing out the Traffic Inspector

By John Sheehan on .

tl;dr -- The Runscope Traffic Inspector, including the traffic gateways, request captures, collections, shared requests, live traffic alerts, on-premises gateway agent are being phased out over the next 180 days.

Runscope API monitoring features are not affected by this shut down. All monitoring functionality (API tests, on-prem Radar agent, schedules, global test locations, notifications, etc.) will continue to operate normally.

Shutting down a product is always a tough decision. However, our customers have overwhelmingly demonstrated to us that API monitoring is where they get the most value out of Runscope. In a given month, ~90-95% of customer usage of our products is focused on API monitoring. While the Traffic Inspector has utility, its utilization does not justify the investment of resources required to keep it running. By focusing on a single product, we'll be able to more intently build the most reliable and secure API monitoring tools for our customers. [...]

Keep Your Account Safe: Two-Factor Authentication with Google Authenticator

Keep Your Account Safe: Two-Factor Authentication with Google Authenticator

By Heitor Tashiro Sergent on .

Security is a top priority for us at Runscope. It's important for us to make sure that your data is always safe, and to also empower you with any tools that we can to allow you to protect your companies' data.

We added support for two-factor authentication back in July of 2015. Users could enable 2FA in their accounts via SMS, or by using the Authy app. But, we understand that sometimes users can have different apps that handle 2FA, such as Google Authenticator and other TOTP compliant apps that require a QR code.

So, last week we've added support for Google Authenticator and other apps as two-factor authentication options for Runscope users! [...]
